Sophia Makris, Board Member Sophia Makris, Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2014, is originally from Ontario, Canada and moved to Dallas, TX when she was 10 years old. She currently practices in the Corporate and Tax Practice Group at McGinnis Lochridge in Austin, Texas. Sophia’s practice focuses on representing public and private clients in a broad range of corporate transactions. She advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities, commercial lending, banking matters and other commercial transactions. Sophia graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and minors in Business Administration and English. During her time at Texas A&M, she was selected to the Muster Committee Executive Board, selected to the Public Policy Internship Program, participated in Maggies: Women in Leadership, served as a Fish Camp counselor, and was a member of the Honors College. Sophia earned her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, where she served as President of the Student Bar Association, member of the Duberstein National Bankruptcy Moot Court Team, and Associate Editor for The Review of Litigation. During her time in law school, Sophia was one of ten named to the Order of Barristers in the Class of 2017 for top achievements in oral advocacy. |
